Celebrated Brazilian swimwear designer Mirla Sabino unveiled the Cruise 2008 collection of her ANK swimwear line Friday night at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Miami Swim.
The 7pm show, presented by Nivea Body Good-bye Cellulite, was delayed as the eager audience filled the Beachway tent at the historic Raleigh hotel. Editors from Sports Illustrated, Fitness, Teen Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, InStyle, Shape, Self and Ocean Drive were in front row attendance. After 3 years of ever-increasing notoriety, ANK will launch its 2008 collection at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Miami Swim Shows with an anticipated runway show. The show will take place on Friday, July 13th, 2007 at 7 pm in the Beachway tent at the Raleigh Hotel.

The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Miami Swim Shows 2008 opened with a high note! Coveted Brazilian swimwear brand Rosa Cha, from celebrity designer Amir Slama, kicked the party off! Backstage, in an exclusive interview, he talked about the new 2008 collection and his new challenges as a designer and a fashion enterpreneur.

Slama told us about his passions of history, art and culture and how his new 2008 collection called Movements, was brought to life. The collection was inspired on cultural and artistic movements that fueled the Brazilian Tropicalia in the late sixties. It shows an an ecletic mixture of decadent Dadaism, Surrealism, and Concrete Poetry (sometimes referred to as visual poetry). The original touch of updated retro appeal, makes this collection unique, as a piece of art itself. The informal modeling showed 12 looks, "just a little taste of the 2008 collection" that will be fully presented during New York Fashion Week Summer 2008 in September. According to Slama his biggest challenge is to recreate every six months, "there is no established success, rather a road to be built every day." His brand is working for worldwide recognition and the conquest of Asian market is crucial. His new investments are aimed towards Japan and China, but "slowly and step by step." |
As Slama already has the skills of the master fashion designers that have been in the fashion industry for decades, his passion of serious research to feed his inspiration, has given him the respect of a haute couture swimwear designer and his success should be here to stay for decades also. Rosa Cha Launches Its 2008 Splashy Swimwear Collection |
“Sun King” Amir Slama is scheduled to launch his splashy swimwear label Rosa Cha at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Miami Swim Shows with a special event. This is the third time that the label has participated in IMG’S runway event, which takes place during the swim industry’s annual trade show in Miami, Florida. Rosa Cha will unveil the Resort 2008 swimwear collection on Wednesday, June 11th, 2007 at 6:00 pm in the Pool Deck tent at the Raleigh hotel. A Nod to Old Hollywood Glamour for the New Millenium |
Hundreds of Miami VIPs, style-makers and celebrities rocked to the music of Superb Records as models showed off their tanned and toned bodies in playful, colorful looks that were perfect for a day at the beach or a jet-set jaunt in St. Tropez. The looks brought to mind the glamorous Parisian, American and Italian cinema starlets of the 60’s, with a hint of 70’s and 80's and the modern elements of the new Millennium. Graphic bold prints, delicious colors and sexy silhouettes flowed seamlessly together to give the collection a unique feel.
Guests received amazing gift bags overflowing with Smashbox makeup and OPI nail polishes. A veritable who’s who of celebrities, socialites and industry VIP’s, toasted the new line including: socialite and model, Kim Kardashian; Miami “It-Boy”, Ariel Stein; Chutney Ross, daughter of Diana Ross; actor and supermodel Tyson Beckford; Miami’s nightlife queen, Ingrid Casares; rapper, DJ Clue; Los Angeles socialite, Samantha Pressley; Latin pop recording artist, Ana Christina; and stylist and fashion critic, Robert Verdi. Partnership with Cia.Maritima Sets Stage for U.S. Debut of 2008 Collection |
DHL, the world’s leading global express delivery and logistics company, has partnered with Cia.Maritima, Brazil’s largest producer of high-end beachwear, for the U.S. debut of the label’s 2008 collection during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Miami Swim Shows.
DHL will provide its international delivery and logistics expertise to transport Cia.Maritima’s collection, which designer Benny Rosset debuted during Sao Paulo Fashion Week in June, from Brazil to Miami in time for its U.S. runway show debut on Wednesday, July 11th.
DHL staff will also be on hand throughout the production with DHL “delivery men” removing the runway cover immediately before the start of show.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Miami Swim Shows announced an exciting addition to the already exceptional lineup of designers for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Miami Swim today.
