importance of the Brazilian textile industry, which is currently facing tough competition in the internal market from imported products.
TOP QUALITY MERCHANDISE
The Fashion Council has recently created a quality program with a Seal of Origin and Quality to develop awareness of the importance of maintaining high quality standards. That is an encouragement for top quality manufacturers and an essential guarantee for buyers.
The Seal will have two categories to cover a greater number of companies: The Four-Star Level will evaluate the items compliance in accordance with label legislation, size conformity according to the measurement table and visual analysis of defects in stitching. The Five-Star Level (in addition to the four-star requirements) will cover aspects of composition and the durability of the raw materials used to make the piece.
TREND FORUM
The Forum is unique among Brazilian fairs and was created in line with the main international fairs of the sector, such as the Lyon Fair and the Première Vision, which takes place in Paris.
The regional complex has around 900 companies located in the cities of Nova Friburgo, Cordeiro, Cantagalo, Bom Jardim, Duas Barras and Macuco. Together they provide over 20 thousand jobs and produce around 114 million pieces a year, roughly 25% of the national output. Due to these numbers, Nova Friburgo has become the Brazilian lingerie capital and a national benchmark in the intimate wear sector, a sign of the development of small and medium industries in Brazil.
